Personal Antics

I'm as guilty as the next guy!

Just to make it crystal clear, I'm probably as guilty as everyone else in the martial arts community of having come across as a total martial arts nitwit. I sure don't want to sit here on my shiny behind and point fingers at other martial artists left and right just to make myself look like a squeaky clean individual with no personal or professional flaws.

We all do mistakes and I doubt very much there is a Mr or Mrs Perfect out there - at least who's been involved in the martial arts for many years.

Hurt ... myself

Just to give you an example of a nitwit (me) doing some martial arts antics...

Several years ago I was training for a martial arts demonstration with a fellow instructor. There was this "fancy" throw I had some problems pulling off nicely. Turned out we had to scrap the throw - and the demo - when I ended up throwing my partner onto my own knee, breaking the meniscus... Nice!

And there's more... If you think for a moment I could be capable of cutting myself with a sharp knife doing a demo at a nigh club, you're absolutely right :-)

So there you have it, I admit to being a martial arts maniac - and a proud one at that!
